As a foundation our support focuses on these categories in our effort to provide service to the Howard County Community. Our current efforts, dependent upon your donation, focus on Mentoring, Community Outreach, Health Initiatives and Scholarship.
MENTORING
Mentoring as our flagship program has evolved and grown exponentially since its inception, from just a few students to our current enrollment of 30 young men. What was once a strictly academic program, has evolved to include; self-awareness, cultural and social development with activities such as college campus tours, group camping trip, professional speakers and tours of the national capital museums to name a few. We hope you’ll join us in helping to provide opportunities to deserving students. COMMUNITY OUTREACH/SOCIAL ACTION
Annually, the foundation provides programming, volunteers and supplies to multiple families, facilities and organizations in the Howard County Community. Annually we host and feed those in need at local shelters, donate gifts during the holiday season, volunteer at local senior events, donate book bags and school supplies at the start of the school year, volunteer at local schools events and hosts a youth talent show.
HEALTH INITIATIVES / BLOOD DRIVE
Annually, we host multiple health initiatives throughout Howard County to improve awareness of well-being and fitness in the Howard County community. We host a Blood Drive in Howard County to assist the American Red Cross in obtaining this needed supply of blood for patients in urgent need. On average, we receive support from 40 – 50 people that give blood to the cause. We also host community fitness sessions and support health events hosted in Howard County.
As a foundation, we are constantly looking for new ideas and partnerships; please let us know if you have any ideas of how we can work to improve health awareness.
SCHOLARSHIP
In efforts to foster academic excellence though scholarship, the foundation provides scholarships awards to high school graduates going to college. Based on a competitive application process, the reviewing committee will take into account multiple factors such as the amount of donations available for scholarships, quality of application, academic record, and need of applicant to name a few.
