The roots of the Tau Pi Foundation had its earliest beginnings in 1988 that lead to its incorporation on December, 1990 as a non-profit 501(c3) tax-exempt organization providing funding for programs and activities identified as important contributing factors in the development of our future leaders. The foundation was organized “to solicit, collect and otherwise raise money for charitable, philanthropic, eleemosynary, educational, and benevolent purposes; to expend, contribute, disburse and otherwise handle and dispose of the same for such purposes”; all as a non-profit corporation. The foundation will raise/ collect money to redistribute for its stated purposes. The foundation will provide funding sources for scholarships and community programs such as the Ronald McNair youth leadership programs, mentoring, senior programs, and giving to families during the holidays.

Since inception the foundation has received contributions over the years from such donors as AT&T, Rouse Company, United Black Fund, Southland Corporation, Howard County Substance Abuse, Craft Corporation, MCI Supplies Diversity Office, Ronald Johnson Foundation, and Westinghouse Electric. These donations were used to assist with funding of the mentoring program and provide scholarships to High School graduates.

Today, as throughout our long history, the Tau Pi foundation is still working to benefit the community through service and community programs.

Thanks to your generous contributions, the foundation has provided mentoring to hundreds of youth and provided quality programming to benefit our seniors, veterans, homeless and other persons of need in our community since 1990.

We invite you to learn more about our programs and hope you will feel inspired to become more involved. The foundation’s work has never been more important and we cannot do it without your help.
